To be featured on the site:
In order to be featured on the site, please send at least 30 pictures that are no bigger than 640x 480 pixels each to TheOrdinaryDayProject@gmail.com
Include your name (at least your first name, but a last initial or last name is preferred), place of residence, age, and occupation.
If you want to clarify any pictures, please let us know in your email.
Guidelines for submission:
1.) Sepia is preferred, however, if you don’t have abilities to take pictures in sepia, black and white is acceptable.
2.) Please only take pictures of regular, ordinary, activities. Examples include eating lunch, working out, work, home activities, visits with friends, church activities, etc. Rallies, public speaking engagements, etc. are acceptable if this is a part of your regular, ordinary activities and is related to your job. We all love pictures from Disneyland, but what we’re looking for is pictures of random, everyday occurrences.
3.) Please, no photos of explicit nudity. Breastfeeding, foggy pictures of a silhouette behind a glass shower door, and the like are completely acceptable. We just don’t need to see 30 pictures of your nether regions. Implication is acceptable however. If your day ends with an intimate moment between you and your partner, an artistic shot of your hands entwined, a hand on a lower back, or a finger unclasping a bra are fine. Just be discreet and artsy in your interpretation.
4.) Please get permission from anyone in your photographs to submit to the project. We really don’t like to see people upset that they’re online.
Ideas for Pictures:
The best way to get a feel for what we’re looking for is to look at other submissions. If you’re still looking for inspiration, here are some ideas.
1.) What you eat on a regular day.
2.) What you wore.
3.) Pictures of special things in your house. The view from your balcony. The way the sun hits the rug in your room at 3 p.m.
4.) Your steering wheel. The radio station that you’re tuned into. A photo of the street sign outside of your house.
5.) The way your cat sleeps upside down. How your dog digs with his butt in the air. How your kid looks when he or she wakes up. Your face, without makeup.
6.) The tears after you stub your toe. The card you got from a friend. Your wedding ring.
7.) The irregularities in the architecture of your building or house. Your unevenly painted toe nails. Your cubicle at work. Your weight. Your milkshake.
Have fun and remember when you look at your slideshow and are awed at how beautiful it is, this is YOUR life. Enjoy it.
